Hi there.
My name is Stacy. I am a mother of a toddler as well. Her name is Amanda. In two weeks she and I are going to imbark on a plane ride, alone, to visit her grandparents in good old FL. She whent on a plane a year ago and it was a total disater… crying/screaming the whole way to C.A. with a head cold and popping ears… lets just say she and I were the ones people wanted to thrown off the plane in mid flight… nothing seemd to work. Not lolipops, pacifyers, juice, milk, ect. No toys would calm her except her banket, and only for a little while.
Although she is a year older now and can tell me what she wants, she is also a TERRIBLE TWO and will yell, wine, and cry to get out of her seat or get what she wants.
Did you go on the trip with your son that you purchased those toys for? Did the head phones you got for him fit or were they too big? Did the DVD Movies work/keep him distracted? or the stickers or any of the other devices you brought. I don’t fly often and never alone… I’m actually afraid to fly, but I am determined to make this a good experience for my daughter so I will hide my fear… anything to get out of this cold Michigan weather for 9 days.
I too have a similar list of toys that I’ve purchased for my daughter, anything with few pieces to loose… If possible I will put eveything on a bungie cord/string to keep me from having to bend down to get all the little things from the no mans land on the floor. My daughter loves movies but maybe not headphones. We have practiced in the house with some enormus one that make her look like Princess Laya. It’s a game yo put them on and take them off. I think they are too heavy for her head for a long time.
How did your trip go and what got you through it? Did you change your son’s nap schedule so he would sleep on the plane?
OK. I am quite obsessed with the plane ride aspect when it will only be a few hours… but I’ve been to the library and barrowed books and kid movies about plane travel all to gear her up for the adventure.
I did not get to pick the time of day we are traveling and it is right, smack in the middle of the day 11-2PM + an hour car ride from the airport once we arrive.
Can you let me know how you trip worked for you?
Thanks.
